English: The SONARA building near the Kennedy Bridge in Niamey, Niger. Looking east. Orginally the headquarters of SONARA, the Nigerien state groundnut board, from the post independence period when groundnuts were the top cash export of the nation. As the sign indicates, the building now houses Air France, as well as Somair (Société des Mines de l'Aïr) the public / private uranium mining company. Uranium far surpassed other commodities in the 1970s to be the top export.
