Summary

Description
English: A 9.2 inch Coastal Defence Gun was originally sited at Spur Battery below O'Hara's Battery was dismantled and relocated at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford as part of Projects Vitello I which involved the dismantling of the Gibraltar Gun at Gibraltar and transportation to the UK and Project Vitello II which involved its subsequent reconstruction at Duxford. O'Hara and Lord Airey's Batteries are two of three surviving 9.2 inch Coastal Defence Gun emplacements in Gibraltar. The third emplacement is located at Breakneck Battery which continues to under the ownership of the Ministry of Defence and inaccessible.

The 9.2 inch Coastal Defence Guns at O'Hara's, Lord Airey's and Spur Batteries had a range of 29,600 yds which easily covered both the Straits of Gibraltar (25,500 yds) and the Bay of Gibraltar (9,000 yds).
