Summary

Description
English: The College of St. John the Evangelist was founded in New Zealand by Bishop George A. Selwyn and named after his alma mater, St John’s College, Cambridge in England. The College first was established in 1843 at the Church Missionary station at Te Waimate, inland from the Bay of Islands; and, it was moved to eastern Auckland in 1844. Originally, the College was co-educational and multi-racial. Image snipped from page 89 of Boreham, Frank. George Augustus Selwyn: pioneer bishop of New Zealand (London: S. W. Partridge, [1911]).
