DescriptionSteamboat boneyard Willamette River circa 1885.jpg
English: Steamboat "boneyard" at Portland, Oregon, on the Willamette River. Sternwheeler R.R. Thompson clearly visible. Also in image are two large sidewheelers, Alaskan and Olympian, identifiable by their two auxiliary schooner-rigged sailing masts, walking beam engine (visible on one), large smokestacks, and position and style of pilot houses. Presence of Alaskan allows this image to be dated to sometime between 1883, when Alaskan was built, and May 1889, when Alaskan was sunk off Cape Blanco.
