DescriptionSteamship Safety Political Cartoon Oregon 1907.png
English: This political cartoon was a response to the sinking of SS Columbia in 1907. American steamships along the Pacific coastline were notorious for alleged safety violations and large death tolls. The article represents other wrecks leading up to the sinking of Columbia, including the Dix sinking in Seattle, Valencia sinking on Vancouver Island, City of Rio de Janeiro sinking in San Francisco and the Pacific sinking in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
