English: Flux surface of a toroidal magnetic plasma confinement experiment using a Wendelstein-7-X magnetic configuration as an example. Right: Banana shaped cross section showing the intersection points of magnetic field lines (so called "Poincare plot") forming nested flux surfaces around the magnetic axis. Separate island structures occurring outside the confinement region are also shown. Bottom: flux surface measurement showing the intersection points of an electron beam with a fluorescent medium placed in a more triangular shaped plane. Measurement in false colour taken from Wendelstein 7-AS. Deutsch: Magnetische Flußfläche eines Stellarators wobei eine Konfiguration von Wendelstein 7-X als Beispiel dient. Rechts: der poloidale Querschnitt zeigt die gerechneten Durchstoßpunkte der magnetischen Feldlinien (sog. Poincare plot) in einer bananen-förmigen Ebene. Die Feldlinien bilden im Einschlußgebiet zwiebelartig ineinandergeschachtelte Flußflächen um die magnetische Achse. Außerhalb dieses Einschlußgebietes sind separate Inselstrukturen markiert. Unten: An Wendelstein 7-AA gemessene Flußflächen: Die Durchstoßpunkte der Feldlinien werden mit einem Elektronenstrahl sichtbar gemacht, der in der betreffenden, eher dreiecksförmigen poloidalen Ebene auf ein fluoreszierendes Medium trifft. |
