Description
English: Tasso, a plantation house on Dallas County Road 33 near Orrville, Alabama. The crossroads of Dallas County Road 33 and Dallas County Road 952, about a mile east of this house, is called Tasso Crossroads and is named for this plantation. The house was built in the mid-1830s. It was acquired by Hamilton Claverhouse Graham in 1865 and named Tasso, in honor of the 16th century Italian poet Torquato Tasso. Graham married Mary Jane Moseley, of the nearby Moseley's Grove Plantation. Neglected for much of the last half of the 20th century, the house was restored by Susan and Mason McGowin, Jr. beginning in 1999. (History of Tasso from: Meador, Daniel John.
