I haven't been able to find out much about this gorgeous old building that is sadly, slowly falling into ruin. Situated on Waimea West Road, it did have hazard/keep out signs posted all over it at one stage, then it looked as if someone might be starting the enormous task of restoration but nothing seems to be happening fast. Update January 2014 - The Gables Historic Place Trust # 247 Category 1 Dating from 1865 - early accommodation house and also a store. Constructed of brick dug and fired on site and plastered. Very little altered since original construction. |
