Description
English: The Pikeing Well, New Walk This was York's attempt at becoming a spa. A mineral spring was discovered here and a well head was constructed to a design by John Carr. It was rebuilt in 1858 by Thomas Pickersgill. The water was said to have beneficial effects for people with sore eyes.
