Summary

Description
English: The Undercroft A Mediaeval vault. These were used to store wine and other merchandise from continental Europe, and became something of a status symbol. This is a particularly impressive example, with ribbed vaulting and carved stone bosses. Some sources say the figure at the top right represents Christ. The Undercroft is only accessible on certain Blue Badge and Green Badge Tours of historical Southampton.
