he east front istoward Lake Michigan, and thewest looks across the Canal toMachinery Hall. These twobuildings are connected by acolonnade, with a cafe at eitherend, and in the centre of thiscolonnade is an archway lead-inor to the catde exhibits, thesheds and Pavilion. From thisconnectino- colonnade the viewnorthward is one of the finestof the entire orounds of theExposition. It follows thecourse of the Canal and theLagoon for a mile, passingfirst between the buildings forelectricityand for manufactures,then the sylvan shores of theWooded Island, and termi-nates at the Gallery of FineArt. The Buildinof for Ao-ri-culture measures 500x800feet,and its Annex toward the southis 300x500 feet. The mainentrance is toward the north.On either side of it are mam-moth Corinthian pillars 50 feethigh and 5 feet in diameter.Pavilions are reared at eachcorner and at the centre of thebuilding. SIGN OF ZODIAC, AGRICULTURAL BUILDING. (Martiny.) lD4 AGRICULTURE. main doorway, one passesthrough an opening 64 feetwide into a vestibule, andthence into a rotunda 100feet in diameter. This issurmounted by a mammothglass dome 130 feet high^and perched upon the sum-mit of this is balanced amagnificent statue of Diana^now so famous. Throucrhthe main vestibule statuaryhas been desioned illustra-tive of the agricultural in-dustry. Similar designs aregrouped about all of thegrand entrances in the mostelaborate manner. Thecorner pavilions are sur-mounted by domes andgroups of statuary. Thedesiorn of these domes is that of three female figures of herculean proportions supporting a mammoth globe.
