tion of length has a definite importance in that whichconcerns : 1st, the deformity of the opposite jaw, which is curved more or lessforward than normal ; 2d, great difficulty in the prehension of food, especiallyin horses feeding on pasture ; 3d, finally, an absolute obstacle to the determina-tion of the age. Brachygnathism is superior (Fig. 317) or inferior (Fig. 318) ; the former ismore rare than the latter. The incisors, in both cases, are of great length. Asto the molar arcades, they are normal. When the jawsare closed, the latter overlaps the inferior arcade in front and upon the sides, over its whole periphery. This is probably the beginning of what we will studya little farther on under the name parrot mouth. 7. Irregularities through Excess or from Insufficient Wear. § 1. Incisor Teeth. In general, the incisors always preserve the same length of theirfree part, although they d
