DescriptionThe old Magistrates' Court - geograph.org.uk - 1073608.jpg
English: The old Magistrates' Court This building in Shrewsbury Road was built in 1843, and originally started life as a Zion Baptist Chapel. After slightly less than 80 years on and off, it became the local Magistrates' Court, but closed for business in the 1970s and has lain derelict ever since. There is currently (Dec 2008) a planning application in place for demolition and the erection of 1- & 2-bedroom flats on the site; this application is meeting some local resistance, but it's fairly clear from the external appearance at close quarters that the existing building is in a rather decrepit state.
I thought it worthwhile recording the building on Geograph for posterity, as it may not last much longer.
