Summary

Description
English: The bottom timeline represents the periods when MH370 was connected through SATCOM (green) or RADAR (purple). The radar section is enhanced on the top timeline, showing when MH370 was visible in several primary and secondary RADAR displays. The times are UTC and rounded to the closest minute. Some important events are shown.

Gradients show uncertainty:

  • SATCOM contact was lost somewhere between 17:07:48 (UTC) and 18:03:41 (UTC) before reconnection at 18:25:27 when the 1st handshake occurs.
  • The 7th handshake was successful, but the 8th handshake failed, so MH370 must have went down somewhere between 00:19:29 (UTC) and 01:15:56 (UTC).
Data is taken from the official report [1] and the release of civilian radar data by the Independent Group [2].
