Description
English: The Tomb of Machpela complex in Hebron was built by King Herod the Great to house the underground cave of the Matriarchs and Patriarchs. The cenotaphs of the Biblical figures of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, and Jacob and Leah are located here.
עברית: מערת המכפלה היא מבנה במזרח העיר חברון. על פי המסורת היהודית והכתובים, המערה היא מקום קבורתם של אדם וחווה, אבות האומה אברהם, יצחק, יעקב ואמהות האומה שרה, רבקה ולאה (רחל נקברה בקבר רחל בבית לחם)
مصرى: المسجد الإبراهيميّ، أو الحرم الإبراهيميّ الشريف، وهو عند اليهود باسم كهف البطاركة أو مغارة المكفيلة (بالعبرية: מערת המכפלה)، يُعتبر أقدم بناء مُقدّس مُستخدم حتى اليوم دون انقطاع تقريباً، وهو رابع الأماكن المُقدّسة عند المسلمين، وثاني الأماكن المقدّسة عند اليهود بعد جبل الهيكل. جاءت قُدسيته كونه بُني فوق مغارة مدفونٌ فيه كلٌّ من النبي إبراهيم وزوجته سارة، وولدهما إسحق وولده يعقوب وزوجتيهما رفقة وليئة.
