Looking E from Portland Canal at Fourteenth Street (L&I) Bridge:
Towboat "Sue Chappell" upbound after passing under lift span of bridge with a 15-barge tow consisting of 6 hopper barges loaded with coal, one hopper barge loaded with aggregate and 8 empty hopper barges
Clark Bridge and downtown buildings can be seen in distance
In foreground and at right are concrete guidewalls which help pilots keep their tows within the channel so they don't run aground or hit the bridge pier, especially when high water covers the canal bank
