Cutters serving on ocean stations "Sugar" and "Victor" near Korean waters performed vital meteorological duty, providing United Nations' ground, naval, and air forces with information on weather patterns that affected their military actions. Twenty-two cutters served on these ocean stations during the war. In addition to monitoring the weather, they served as communication support platforms and as plane guards, ready to assist aircrews who were forced down at sea. |
