Description
English: The ship's sponsor for the launching of the United States Navy submarine USS O-1 poses with her bouquet, just before christening the submarine, at the Portsmouth Navy Yard in Kittery, Maine. Just to the right is Rear Admiral w:Clifford J. Boush, Commandant of the Navy Yard. To the left, in white uniform, is Rear Admiral w:Spencer S. Wood, Commandant of the First Naval District. O-1's bow is at right. Note sign in the upper left: "The American People Want Ships ... Not Excuses".
