C'est l'architecte Norman Foster et ses associés qui ont été retenu en 1988 pour le design du métro de Bilbao. Deux lignes desservent depuis 1995 l'agglomération qui comprend aujourd'hui plus d'un million d'habitants, et qui s'étend jusqu'à la mer. "L’équipe de Sir Norman Foster a été chargée de la définition des stations souterraines en galerie du métro de Bilbao. En plus des conceptions d’originalité, de simplicité et d’efficacité qui sont présentes dans tout oeuvre de Foster, il y a une idée directrice qui a déterminé très positivement les travaux du métro de Bilbao: l’integration de l’architecture et de l’ingénierie, ce qui s’apprécie tout particulièrement dans les espaces fluides de sa création." www.bm30.es/proyectos/metro_fr.html |
