'Lt.-Col. Algernon Carteret Thynne was born on 9 April 1868. He was the son of Francis John Thynne and Edith Marcia Caroline Sheridan. He married, secondly, Anita Constance Edith Bonham, daughter of Edward Bonham, on 13 February 1904. He died on 6 November 1917 at age 49. Lt.-Col. Algernon Carteret Thynne fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the North Somerset Yeomanry Cavalry. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 3rd Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. He was decorated with the Companion of the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.). He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Royal North Devon Hussars. He fought in the First World War.' Further information sourced from: thepeerage.com.
