Description A WWI Recruitment poster, using a New York Herald cartoon by W.A. Rogers. Shows an anthropomorphised Germany wading through a sea of dead bodies, with the slogan "Only the Navy can Stop This". Presumably a reference to the U-boat campaign sinking civilian ships, such as the Luisitania. Compare File:Track of Lusitania.jpg.

Other versions
This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Levels adjusted, stains and creases removed, sharpening. I presumed that the paper was originally reasonably white - a reasonable assumption, given the way colours are used in this - but paper used in cheap posters is very bad paper, so yellows very readily..
