Abdul Baari Chowdhury Jamey Masjid is one of the oldest masjids of Anwara Upazila was founded by His Highness, Jamindar Abdul Baari Chowdhury nearly 265 years ago on 2 January 1756. He is only one of the members of the trinity of the Jamindar of this Upazila who had held the power of voting to the council of Calcutta under the rule of the British Empire along with Jamindar Ershad Ali Chowdhury of Toylardip and Barkhaine and Jamindar Pala of Keshua. Abdul Baari Chowdhury was a famous lawyer of Calcutta High Court who had the authority of 13 sits warden in Banshkhali. The beautiful three Gambuj Masjid bears the history of today's enriched Barumchara union and the successful reign of the Chowdhury Dynasty which came to an end in 1947.
