In fact, Villa plays as a second attacker, and also Silva and Iniesta are more offensive than Xavi and Senna, so the Spanish squad's scheme was more like a 4-2-3-1 (rather than a 4-4-2) with Torres as centre forward and a line with Silva-Villa-Iniesta (form left to right) just behind him.
