I have to dispute the description of the image: "Aerial photo of Dak To looking toward Laos, Vietnam." I was stationed at Dak To (technically Dak To 2) in 68-69 as a U.S. Army air traffic controller. My unit, the 366th Avn. Spt. Det., had operational control of both Dak To airfield & Dak To 1, also known as the Old Dak To airstrip, which was used as a Special Forces embarkation point. At that time, Dak To (2) was base camp for the 1st Brigade, 4th Inf Div.

The picture FOB Dak To Vietnam.jpg, is of Dak To airfield (Dak To 2), which was oriented close to east-west. In the aerial photo of Dak To, FOB Dak To Vietnam.jpg, the photo is actually looking more south, not west toward the tri-border of Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam. Even at the Old Dak To airstrip, south didn't face Laos.
