On-the-Fly Projection Tool - Every Feture Class Has a negative coordinate system. - Every data frame also has a Coordinate system, its defined by the first layer added,It can also be changed by the user. -Every Subsequant layer added is projected (on-the-fly)to match the coordinate system of the data frame. - Native coordinate system of the data is not changed. Geographic Transformation:

on-the- fly projection works when all the layers added to a data frame have the same underlying geographic coordinate system. -When a layer with different geographic coordinate system is added, ArcMap may generate. -If you scroll through the atribute table, you will see that the Majority of the Lee County, but a few of areas fall into other counties, E.G: Charlotte. A North Arrow:

1.From the insert menu, choose North Arrow, (If the area is "greyed out",is because you not in layout View) 2.From the North Arrow Selector,select the north that you would Like to insert on your map & click ok. 3.Use the Selector elements tool to move the North Arrow to a better. 4.To resize the North Arrow,click and drag one of the Resize corner boxes to increase/ decrase the size of the North Arrow.

ADD A SCALE BAR: 1. From the Insert Menu,Choose the scale bar. 2. Select the alternating scale bar, from the list of scale bars available in the scale bar.Selector window. 3.Right click on the scale bar & change the division Units to Kilometers & click ok.
