In the current ZNRK Seitei Iai etiquette, either MSER or in MSR (According to Yamazaki Sensei at a seminar in San Antonio TX in June 2010, "If you are MSER, you do MSER etiquette. If your koryu is anything else, for seitei you do MSR etiquette"), there is no practice to hold the sword at an eye level with one hand, either before or after performing the kata (opening or closing etiquette).

Furthermore, even when performing standing bow to the sword, sword is controlled with both hands, not with one. This has been the practice for at least the last 10 years.

Consequently the left panel of the photo is misrepresentative of the etiquette for ZNKR Seitei Iai. Middle and right panels are from the closing etiquette.

This might be the etiquette in force for a particular branch of koryu, but definitely not for ZNKR Seitei.
