This picture was taken of me, in my own garden, by a photographer and friend, Christopher Greenleaf, who lives nearby, in Westerly, Rhode Island. Because it's a portrait of both me and one of my plants as grown by me, another picture isn't usable. Would you like Christopher Greenleaf to be in touch to confirm that I have the right to use his picture? Thanks for your guidance.

If he is willing to release it under a free license, such as the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License, by following the steps outlined at WP:Donating copyrighted materials then we can use it, yes. That would be the best solution.
If he's not willing to freely license the image then we have to treat the image as non-free and our policies concerning such images is very strict, particularly when it comes to living people where there is a presumption that someone could take a free(ly licensed) picture.
