I'm slightly uneasy about use of this image without reference to the original repository - Alexander Turnbull Library - see our reference on the nzhistory site from where it was sourced (I run this site): http://www.nzhistory.net.nz/node/2308

Not sure what Wikipedia's policy is on this sort of thing, but I would have thought the primary copyright holder should be acknowledged?

Yes Wikipedia requires that all images have a description that, to the extent possible, provides an accurate identification of the subject, date, source, and copyright owner. In this case there could potentially be as many as three copyright owners - the owner of the rights to the original political poster, the owner of the rights to the digital reproduction (presumably Alexander Turnbull Library, although as a derivative work of the poster, the poster's rights holder will also hold rights to the digital reproduction), and finally the creator of the image that appears on New Zealand History Online (which was presumably a derivative work of Alexander Turnbull Library's digital reproduction, and hence both the poster's rights holder and Alexander Turnbull Library also hold rights to this final image). I've cleaned up the summary to contain the new information. I should note that this doesn't necessarily make the uploader's fair use rationale sufficient to either justify it's appearance on WP or likely to survive a fair use test. Is this something you'd like to discuss as well? —RP88 04:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this - I think what you have done is fine and should keep everyone happy Jamie Mackay 08:42, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
