This image is misleading. The "twist" of the normal section is less in the Timoshenko model than in the Euler–Bernoulli approximation; on this image it's greater. See File:Plate theory.svg: th < dw/dx
Also the deflection w is not the same in both models either. So this image is doubly misleading. Finally, the arrow representing graphically the torque M is drawn wrong, the tip is crooked.
The other image File:Plate theory.svg is better, and enough for this article. This one should be deleted altogether, it does more bad than good. Someone could also make a new one, but the other one is good enough.
For the record I'm MSc in mechanical engineering, although I don't have this stuff specially fresh and I haven't looked it up. You can embarrass me a great deal if I'm wrong. :o)
Please confirm if you have a reference handy. Otherwise I could take the time to find it myself.
