Any image we created to replace this would also contain a copyright logo, and would equally be fair use as a result. If I take a photograph of a copyright image - I do not magically gain copyright over the result.

Explanation: The image Image:Male_and_Female_USB_Connectors.jpg adequately conveys what a USB plug looks like and includes the logo. We don't need to illustrate the logo on its own. In the end, the article doesn't need to illustrate the logo. It needs to illustrate what hole on the computer you stick the wire into, and what the plug looks like.
