The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church (Russian: Священный синод Русской православной церкви, romanizedSvyashchennyy sinod Russkoy pravoslavnoy tserkvi) serves by Church statute as the supreme administrative governing body of the Russian Orthodox Church in the periods between Bishops' Councils.[1]
