John Marion Raymundo Wilson (born January 18, 1987) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).
Professional career[edit]
PBA career[edit]
Wilson was drafted by Barangay Ginebra Kings seventh overall in the 2010 PBA draft.
On August 23, 2012, Wilson was traded to the Air21 Express. The trade was a part of a three team trade that involved Barangay Ginebra, Air21, and San Miguel Beermen.[1]
On July 17, 2013, he, along with Nonoy Baclao, were traded Air21 to the Meralco Bolts in exchange for Carlo Sharma and Vic Manuel.[2]
On May 22, 2015, he was traded by Meralco to GlobalPort Batang Pier in exchange for Kelly Nabong and then he shipped to the NLEX Road Warriors in exchange for NLEX's 2016 second round pick.[3]
MPBL career[edit]
San Juan Knights[edit]
On June 20, 2018, Wilson debuted in the MPBL for the San Juan Knights. He scored 20 points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal, and four made threes in a win over the Pampanga Lanterns. In a win over the Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines, Wilson scored 23 points, eight rebounds, and a block, he also drained four threes in that game. Wilson scored his first career-high of 28 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and three steals in a win over Navotas Clutch. In the next game, he tallied 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals in a loss over Rizal Crusaders. In an overtime win over the Manila Stars, Wilson scored 18 points, six rebounds, two assists, and knocked down four threes in the game. On February 25, 2019, he scored 22 points, six rebounds, two dimes, three steals, and five made threes in a win over the Valenzuela Classic. The Knights finished 3rd in the North Division with a 20-5 record. In Game 1 of the Quarterfinals, Despite Wilson only scoring 7 points against the Navotas Clutch, they still win in Game 1. But in Game 2, he tallied 13 points, and three rebounds, and swept the Navotas Clutch in the first round. In Game 1 of the semifinals against the Quezon City Capitals, Wilson only scored 5 points, but he also grabbed 10 rebounds in the game as they win in Game 1. In Game 2, he recorded 19 points, six rebounds, four assists, and drained four threes as they advanced to the North Division Finals as the San Juan Knights swept the Quezon City Capitals in the semifinals. In Game 1 of the North Division Finals against the Manila Stars, Despite Wilson scoring 19 points, eight rebounds, six dimes, and a steal, San Juan still lost in Game 1 at home by 3 points. But in Game 2, the Knights got their revenge in Malate, Manila, as Wilson contributed 18 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. San Juan also won in Game 3 at home, but Wilson only scored 10 points, but grabbed 9 rebounds, and dished out 5 dimes. San Juan now advances to the National Finals facing the 1st-seeded Davao Occidental Tigers. In the Game 1 of the Finals, he scored 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists, four steals, and a block as the Knights grab the 1-0 series lead in Davao City. But in Game 2, the Tigers ties the series, as Wilson only tallied 4 points. In Game 3, San Juan returns to the Filoil EcoOil Centre and he scored 12 points, along with seven boards and a steal, as the Knights grab the series lead again. In Game 4, Wilson recorded a double-double performance with 17 points, 12 rebounds, two dimes, and two steals, but Davao Occidental was able to force a Game 5 back in Davao, as the Tigers beat the Knights in double digits, 66-77. In Game 5, Despite Wilson only scored 8 points, the San Juan Knights still won the National Title, as they defeated the Davao Occidental Tigers in Davao City by just 1 point, 87-86.
