History[edit]

Rashtriya Military School Dholpur (Erstwhile King George’s School) was raised as the fifth and youngest Rashtriya Military School School on 16 Jul 1962 in Kesarbagh Palace, a magnificent mansion of the former ruler of erstwhile Dholpur estate. The inaugural ceremony of the institution was performed on 18 Aug 1962 by Late Shri VK Krishna Menon, the then defence Minister. Subsequently in 1965, the then Defence Minister Mr Y B Chavan also visited the School. The founder Principal, Lt Col KL Ghai with the help of 16 staff members, established the school in two houses i.e. Udaibhan and Vikram house in Kesarbagh Palace itself. Initially 75 students were on roll from classes V to VII. In 1966, the name of the School was changed to Dholpur Military School from King George’s School and in 2000 it was rechristened as Military School Dholpur. Finally in Apr 2007, a common name was adopted by all 05 x Military School i.e. Rashtriya Military Schools. The long journey of 62 years post Independent, the institution has witnessed constant growth, expansion, advancement and development in the spheres of providing quality education, holistic development of child in Nation Building by inculcating leadership and highest virtues embedded with valour with the Moto “Sheelam Param Bhusanam”. In 1970, the Institution attained a lot of fame and the strength of the students rose to 200, therefore the construction of the Residential Campus on the another hillock was planned in 1971, which was completed in 1974 and subsequently the Cadets were shifted to the New Campus. Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur has a glorious history, rich heritage and traditions worth emulating. The Alumni of the school have great positions in public service including defence and brought laurels to their Alma Mater. The School has reputation of being a cradle of Military Leadership and the present generation of staff and cadets have the onus to live up to this distinction.

Aim and Motto[edit]

The aim of the School is “To impart quality education and to prepare Cadets to join the Defence Services through NDA”. Initial Motto of the School was “Play the Game” which was subsequently changed into “Character is the Highest Virtue”.

School Facilities cum Infrastructure[edit]

Though relatively younger than the other Schools, Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur has within the period more than emulated its inherited traditions and has come to establish itself as one of the leading residential schools of the country. Cadets of the School have been doing extremely well in various fields of work. The School has over the years built up a magnificent campus equipped with some of the most modern facilities and equipment for School level education. The object of charm of the School is the impressive Kesarbagh Palace which presently houses the academic and administrative wings of the School. In the earlier days, the School used to function from the Palace, with the boarding facilities located on the ground floor and the classrooms and offices in the first floor. Later, the residential complex of the School, along with the hostels and residential complexes for the teachers and staff, was constructed across the highway dividing the twin campuses. The residential complex is a modern construction with all the basic amenities for the cadets and the staff. The school campus located in the Palace has been renovated to create modern classrooms, digital laboratories, language laboratories, libraries and computer laboratories. However, all the renovations have been done taking utmost care in no way damaging or impinging upon the natural grandeur or the historical context of the Palace. The residential complex on the other hand has such facilities as a huge multi-purpose auditorium, a large dining hall, hostels, guestrooms for the visiting parents, Basketball Court, Volleyball Court, Boxing Ring, Multi-purpose gymnasium etc.

Campus life Typical Day[edit]

A typical day in a cadet's life starts with morning PT, followed by breakfast, assembly, classes at Academic Block (with tea break at 1115 hrs) till 1330 hrs, then lunch at cadet's mess, noon prep, evening games, wash and change, dinner at 2000 hrs and after dinner prep until lights out at 2200 hrs.

NCC[edit]

National Cadet Corps is a part of cadet activities in the Rashtriya Military Schools. These activities are introduced right from the beginning with the aim of instilling in the cadets with the objective of developing in them character and social commitment. The activities are pursued with a lot of vigor including sending the cadets on the camps and adventure activities. The cadets are also involved in socially productive activities in the immediate surroundings. The ANOs and the teachers proactively take part in these activities and guide the cadets though the paces.

CCA[edit]

CCA (Co-Curricular Activities) are part of the school curriculum. Cadets participate in debates, declamations, quizzes, extempore, dance, dramatics, poetry recitation in English and Hindi. They also participate in inter house and inter school arts competitions. The school team is a participant in national and state level CCA meets.

Sports and Physical Education[edit]

Cadets undergo compulsory physical training in the morning and play sports in the evening. The school has facilities for football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, boxing, squash and badminton. The school is a member of the Indian Public Schools' Conference (IPSC) and participates in state as well as national level sports competitions. The Inter Military Schools Pentangular meet is an annual sports and CCA event where all five military schools (and previously Rashtriya Indian Military College Dehradun) compete in several field. In 2007, cadets won six gold, seven silver and two bronze in the CBSE cluster XIII Athletics meet held at Chandigarh.

Activities[edit]

As the school administration remain focussed on all round personality development of the cadets, each activities of the cadets are planned with the primary objective of creating a very active and high standard lifestyle on the campus. While the activities keep the cadets quite busy throughout the day, extreme care is taken to ensure that the cadets get sufficient leisure and rest within the schedule. Academics are given the obvious importance while planning other activities. In the senior classes and before the board exams, adequate study time is ensured even at the cost of other extra-curricular activities. To avoid monotony as well as mental fatigue extreme care is taken to space the each and every activities. The various extra-curricular activities are devised with this objective to accord sufficient time for mental recuperation.

Milestones[edit]

Milestones are significant checkpoints or achievements within a project, journey, or personal development timeline. They serve as critical markers that denote progress, celebrate accomplishments, and guide future actions. Some Milestones of RMS, Dholpur are mentioned below:

1. UPSC topper: Cadet Sparsh Kankane of RMSD, shortlisted by UPSC for achieving AIR-1 in NDA-II exam during the year 2018.

2. LIMCA BOOK of WORLD Records:

(a) Largest Equilateral Triangle Fractal: Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur, Rajasthan, with technical support, training and methodology provided by Ganityoga, organized a Trianglethon, to create the maximum number of equilateral triangles-1,187,097-by 320 cadets and 30 in a span of 12 hrs (from 6: 00 am to 6:00 pm) on 13 December 2017. An area of 4,540 sq. m was covered. Using thread, nails and metal sticks, the cadets created the largest number of equilateral triangles, considered the world's largest 'Equilateral Triangle Fractal".

(b) Largest Swachh Bharat Pledgethon: The School has added one more feather to its cap by creating a world record for organizing the Largest Swachh Bharat Pledgethon on 2 October, 2018 on the occasion of 150th Gandhi Jayanti to give impetus to Swachh Bharat Mission. The record has been aptly archived in the Limca Book of World Records 2020.

3. Silver Jubilee: The School celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its raising in November 1987. The occasion was marked an important milestone in the history of the School.

4. Golden Jubilee: Golden Jubilee of the institution was celebrated in the year 2011 – 2012 with lot of programme such as Cycle expedition from India Gate to the school campus, Ladakh hike for the Cadets of Class XII, Georgian evening, and many more events.

5. Diamond Jubilee: The School has celebrated the Diamond Jubilee Year from 16 July 2022 onwards. School organized many sportive & CCA events from time to time throughout the year to make this year memorable. Final program was in Jul 2023.

6. Vice President Visit: On January 16, 2024, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, paid a visit to Rashtriya Military School, Dholpur. As a symbol of growth and continuity, a sapling was planted to mark the occasion. In a reciprocal gesture, the Vice President invited the cadets to the Parliament House for an enriching exchange of ideas and experiences.


Achievements[edit]

1. Fit India Freedom Run:The Patinum Jubilee Celebration of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) marks 75 years, with former NCC cadets, including Colonel K.S. Badhwar, Colonel D.S. Malik, and Colonel A.N. Jha participating in the Unity Flame Run 2022-23. Covering approximately 3000 kilometers from Kanyakumari to New Delhi, these runners, aged over 50, hold "C" certificates and have been part of various NCC events. The theme of the run is "Unity and Diversity, inspired by the slogan 'One India, Best India.'" Colonel K.S. Badhwar and fellow officers run around 50 kilometers daily, carrying the symbolic "Mashaal" of unity.

2. IPSC Boxing Championship 2023:IPSC boxing Championship 2023 was org from 17 Apr 2023 to 20 Apr 2023 and students from 09 x Schools of the country participated. The RMS Dholpur secured 1st position in the championship after 10 years.

3. All India Trekking Expedition (Boys) NCC at Amarkantak (MP): Four Cdts of Cl –XII attended “All India Trekking Expedition (Boys) NCC” alongwith Lt Amiya Dey, Master Gazetted & ANO, NCC Army Wing (SD) from 21 May 2023 to 28 May 2023 at Amarkantak (MP). School No 3457 Cdt Himanshu Singh awarded Gold Medal in “Tug of War” represented Raj Dte and School No 3467 Cdt Jatin Chauhan awarded Gold Medal for Best in Discipline. A total of 500 Cdts from MP & CG, UK, Raj, Maharashtra, Haryana, Punjab & Chandigarh Dte participated the National level Expedition.

4. Science Olympiad Foundation Competition: Cdts participate in SOF Olympiad every year. School No 3701 Cdt Praful Yadav of Cl–X of this school secured 1st rank in International level of Science Olympiad Foundation. He was awarded with Gold Medal of Excellence for his outstanding performance and a cash prize of ₹ 16,667/-.

5. Selection of Rajasthan Dte Shooting Championship of NCC:School No 3469 Cdt Suraj of Cl –XII has been selected for Raj Dte level Shooting Championship commencing from 05 Jun 2023 to 15 Jun 2023 at Sri Ganganagar. He is representing Kota Gp HQ for the shooting Championship. 6. Achieved 100% results in Class XII and Class X with appreciable grading and all Cadets scored more than 60% aggregate in board exams.
