Poppy Maskill (born 22 March 2005)[1] is a British swimmer, who won gold in the 100 m butterfly S14 at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris.

Life

Maskill was born in 2005 and aged nine she was the Middlewich Rose Queen.[2] In Madeira at the 2022 world championships she took bronze, silver and gold medal. In that years Commonwealth Games in Birmingham she came fourth. She trains near Manchester. Her gold medal at the 2024 Paralympics was especially noted as it was the first won by the British team. She beat Lam Chan from Hong Kong and the bronze went to Valeriia Shabalina.[3]
