Rasht County (Persian: شهرستان رشت) is in Gilan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Rasht.[3]
History
[edit]In 2009, the village of Pir Bast-e Luleman in Luleman Rural District was elevated to the status of the city of Luleman. After the 2011 National Census, the city merged with the villages of Chelak, Karbasdeh, Mobarakabad, Rashtabad, and Rudbaraki.[4]
After the 2016 census, the village of Pir Bazar rose to city status.[5]
In August 2019, Khomam District was separated from the county in the establishment of Khomam County and divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Khomam as its capital and only city.[6]
Demographics

[edit]At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 847,680 in 244,613 households.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 918,445 people in 293,448 households.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 956,971 in 321,703 households.[2]
