SEESHA is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2003 in Chennai, India by Indian educationist, Paul Dhinakaran.[1][2]

The organization provides social and humanitarian services, focusing on areas such as education, health care, and relief efforts for underprivileged communities.

Seesha is known for its initiatives in supporting orphans, promoting education, and offering medical assistance to disadvantaged populations. It also engages in disaster relief activities and runs various programs designed to uplift communities through aid and support. [3][4][5] [6]

The NGO is primarily known for charitable work and social service.[7]

History

SEESHA is the acronym of Samiti for Education, Environment, Social Health and Action.[1][2][3][4][5][8][9][10][11]

It was founded in the year 2003 as a small charitable trust by Indian educationist and humanitarian, Paul Dhinakaran, the organisation is operational as a welfare and developmental NGO focusing on holistic community development.[12][13] Children receive free tutorial education and medical camps.[14][15][16]

They work among poor communities in urban and rural India, in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh and the union territories of Delhi and Puducherry.[17][1][8][18]

Child Development Projects

  • Tuition Centres: Over 70 tuition centres in poor communities, to benefit first-generation learners. The goal of these tuition centres is to equip school-going children with education.
  • Educational Scholarships: Orphans and semi-orphans living in conditions of poverty are supported with scholarships to encourage school going.
  • Orphanage Support: The needs of children from selected orphanages and children's homes are sponsored.
  • Skill Training & Value Education Camps: Camps are organised in the communities for children to explore their interests.
  • Talent Hunt: A platform to explore and exhibit the talents of children from downtrodden communities.
  • CLHIV: Nutritional supplements and educational scholarships given on a monthly basis to children living with HIV in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu.[23][24][25][16]
