Campaign

[edit]

I put some information about some of the key points of the campaign, but obviously much more could be done here. For example, Debates, or Farm Fest, or more detailed info on campaign fundraising, etc.128.54.61.171 03:21, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kelly Doran's Credentials

[edit]

I don't know enough about this person to correct this statement, but I doubt Kelly is running as a gubernatorial and "former" senate candidate in 2006.

Kelly Doran - Wealthy real estate developer and former 2006 U.S. Senate candidate.

He was running for the Senate seat vacated by Mark Dayton, but then decided to run for governor instead. He later droped out of that race as well. Brash 00:40, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Candidates

[edit]

how should this be handled the conventions are on now so they are not running so how should they be listed Smith03 21:21, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I moved it down to the bottom of the DFL section. We should leave it up until A) we get confirmation that they are not running, or B) the September 12 primary is over, thus making it impossible for anyone who is not on the ballot to run. Brash 00:40, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, after reviewing all of the candidates, both Murphy and Johnson are party loyalists and would never jump into the race AFTER the convention. And Ciresi had already stated that he would not be running for any statewide office this year. [1]. I think it's pretty safe to say that none of them are "potential" candidates and do not belong in this article. I believe we should delete the potential candidates section, or at least rename it so it doesn't give the impression that they might still jump into the race. Brash 05:31, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fleshing This Article Out

[edit]

I have a few notes. First, I notice that someone moved the Republican candidates above the DFL candidates - while I don't think that's a bad idea, I start questioning motives when I notice that the same person, who made those changes anonymously, also added a short blurb about Sue Jeffers (Republican contender) when there are no similar blurbs about anyone else. While the intentions of this individual might have been a little more sinister and was just to give thier favorite candidate more visibility, it's a good idea - we should flesh out a few short blurbs on each of the candidates.

Secondly, we should start creating a timeline of sorts, talking about the evolutions in the race to date. This way, we can have an actual useable reference instead of just a list of candidates. If anyone else wants to throw in any information into this article too, I'd be all about that as well. Brash 19:22, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
