Sport icons

[edit]

Per past precedence and use on similar articles (see 2020 Summer Olympics) should be included. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 22:49, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As per MOS:WORDPRECEDENCE and MOS:DECOR, not similar articles. --Aleenf1 00:50, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And also MOS:TOOMANY, events schedule will add another icons, redundant or just decorative? You can add it back for now, for sure i will eradicate again once events schedule added. --Aleenf1 00:56, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
there are many articles which uses sports icons so what is the problem with it here and even the other Asian Games editions also had used it WikiEdits2003 (talk) 19:57, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is no problem. User Aleenf1 is just edit warring. I think there is clear and silent consensus to include them on MSE articles. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 21:19, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We can leave this discussion open for another week. If there are no further objections, we can go ahead and back the icons. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 21:33, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Many articles doesn't mean comply to MOS, i can see also people add without verifiability too. --Aleenf1 22:43, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What verifications are needed  ? WikiEdits2003 (talk) 06:24, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the images have to be used. The version with all images looked bad IMO, harder to read. There were more icons here compared to the last Olympics - Olympics only had 1 image per link. Also the Asian Games are a bit different in this case, they have way more events compared to other MSE. Pelmeen10 (talk) 13:44, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So where the consensus and how it achieved? As one reverted without any consensus and purely just mention "no objections", while MOS and we are object here. --Aleenf1 22:46, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not static therefore Pictogram shall be included
pictogram are meant for such Multi sports events WikiEdits2003 (talk) 05:55, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What you mean by Wikipedia is not static? Do you read the MOS? Somehow with that small icons, everywhere, does it help? I'm not object for one inclusion, which already in calendar, that's sufficiently indicated the objective of pictogram. --Aleenf1 08:50, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Afghanistan

[edit]

Hi @Aleenf1:, Is Afghanistan withdraw from its participation in Asian Games this year? This ref had mentioned that no participants from Afghanistan are participate this year asian games due to passport issue. Fade258 (talk) 14:32, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Aleen, Sorry for my misunderstanding. Fade258 (talk) 14:36, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Case

[edit]

Any source Is Afghanistan (political turmoil) or North Korea (On 8 September 2021, the IOC Executive Board suspended the Olympic Committee of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea through at least the end of 2022 for violations of the Olympic Charter, over its refusal to send athletes to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo due to COVID-19 pandemic-related concerns.) withdraw from its participation in Asian Games this year?

Regarding this case, I didn't find any reliable source to support this statement to North Korea. Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 03:53, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2022 Asian Games or 2023 Asian Games?

[edit]

Is it still called 2022 Asian Games even though it is held on 2023? JoshuaInWiki (talk) 15:46, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@JoshuaInWiki why 2023 asian games called 2022 asian games Nauman335 (talk) 09:23, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I'm asking JoshuaInWiki (talk) 09:51, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This topic already discussed on Talk:Asian_Games. Here is the summary:
Commonly what I found is 'Asian Games 2023' but still used 'Hangzhou 2022' like in this one from olympics.com: https://olympics.com/en/news/asian-games-2023-ten-athletes-watch-hangzhou-2022-2023. So, Asian Games 2022 = Asian Games 2023 colloqiualy for the time being. EdhyRa (talk) 01:52, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect Football at the 2022 Asian Games - Men's tournament has been listed at redirects for discussion to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines. Why is this document impossible to modify further description? It's so uncomfortable. Please release it right away. It's an infringement of editorial freedom under the guise of vandalism protection. It's the way to a better wiki. Currently, it is not able to describe it because it does not have the authority to modify it. The size of Korea's squad for the 2022 Asian Games is 867. Upload the source together. Please edit it for me.

Controversy section entry

[edit]

(https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2022_Asian_Games&diff=prev&oldid=1176813617) I think the controversy section in this edit, (the current version) is WP:UNDUE in terms of length and detail - name of an the indian minister and specific branches of the indian govenrment is unnecessary. too many unneccessary citations when one source can summarize the entire entry.

proposed changes: 1. names of and links to ministers and branches of government for both China and India shouldn't be included, as info is undue, can make the section longer than it should be, and doesn't add any important info to the article. this article only included branches of indian government, but if this is accepted, i don't see any reason against including responses from specific branches from the Chinese government (such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China).

2. provide one source instead of four

Proposed edit:

China issued stapled visas instead of stamped ones to three Indian wushu atheltes from Arunachal Pradesh, which China views as part of Tibet Autonomous Region while India views as part of its territory. The issuance of stapled visas has been seen as China's way of questioning India's sovereignty over Arunachal Pradesh. India protested China's decision, and cancelled its sports minister's visit to the games.[1]

proposed edit is based on my previous edit, which was removed. (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2022_Asian_Games&diff=prev&oldid=1176802506)

I think some informationw as lost in an edit conflict here. Apologies (I am the instructor for the student who caused that information loss, I've just explained this to her, but I am not sure if she will be able to fix this; I'll try to check this in few days but feel free to do so earlier if anyone believes valuable content was lost and needs to be restored ASAP).  Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 21:21, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
