Possible copyvio
So the History section of this article is very suspect. I've identified parts of it as being lifted from here, but I'm not sure about the rest of it. I'll work on rewriting it when I get home from work, but I thought it would be good to put this out there as a heads up for others. --Mûĸĸâĸûĸâĸû 23:37, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
- Rewrote the history section and cited it, so I suppose it no longer matters. Am removing the suspected copyvio template. --Mûĸĸâĸûĸâĸû 10:22, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Merge discussion
So I'm pretty sure that the 31st Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron is the same as the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron. Comparing the two existing articles, are the following similarities:
- Both flew the RB-29
- Both were stationed at Johnson AFB at the same time (August - November 1950)
- Both were numbered 31, both were reconnaissance, both were squadrons -- and honestly, how many different 31st reconnaissance squadrons can you have running around the same base?
- Both were a part of the Far East Air Force
- Both went to Beale AFB following Johnson AFB on the very exact same day.
There are some minor discrepancies between the two articles, but really it's very obvious that the two squadrons are actually the same. Now the question is this -- was the squadron's name at the time the 31st Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron or the 31st Reconnaissance Squadron?
If no one has any objections about the merge, I'll go ahead and do it. I'll give it some time for discussion, however.

Squadron history
You will note that the information you removed was cited as written by Ms. Joanne Emerick, 31st Bombardment Association Historian, with additional information added by Mr. Roger Muse, 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron Historian. The part supposedly "lifted" from here is the portion of the squadron history compiled by Ms. Joanne Emerick and has been included with her express permisssion.
I am Mr. Roger Muse, and the information put into the History section, and the rest of the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron page is accurate and from the horses mouth and official Air Force records. I manage all the historical files concerning the 31st Aero Squadron, the 31st Bombardment Squadron, the 31st Strategic Recconnaisance Squadron, and the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron.
If anyone has any questions concerning this information they can contact me at roger.muse@edwards.af.mil and I would be happy to answer any questions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Decoligny (talk • contribs) 20:55, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
I have once more reverted the squadron history to the version not written by Ms Emerick and Mr Muse. Reasons are as follows:
- current version is cited
- current version is wikilinked
- current version is second-hand and follows the Wikipedia policy of no original research, whereas the other version was the "official" squadron history -- that is, original research
Feel free to incorporate the information compiled by Ms Emerick (found here), but be sure to cite and format it properly. Please discuss this change here. --Mûĸĸâĸûĸâĸû 03:54, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
