Name of TF Bns
[edit]According to the latest NZ Army ORBAT (as at 18 December 2014) [1] the full names of the TF Bn's are as fols:
- 2nd/4th Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment;
- 3rd/6th Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment; and
- 5th/7th Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment.
Whilst this would no doubt commonly be shortened to "2/4", "3/6" or "5/7" these are not the full names of these units. These names have been adopted due to the merging of 6 TF Bns into 3 (being the 2nd Battalion (Canterbury and Nelson-Marlborough and West Coast Regiment) with the 4th Battalion (Otago and Southland Regiment), the 3rd Battalion (Auckland [Countess of Ranfurly's Own] and Northland Regiment) with the 6th Battalion (Hauraki Regiment), and the 5th Battalion (Wellington West Coast and Taranaki Regiment) with the 7th Battalion (Wellington [City of Wellington's Own], Hawkes Bay Regiment).
