Shouldn't this page be titled PS Alpena?

[edit]

The Alpena was a paddlewheeler. Shouldn't it be referred to as PS instead of SS? TomLuTon (talk) 00:59, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See debate on Talk: SS Great Western. I don't know if PS is established historical usage, or a later innovation. Rmhermen (talk) 03:48, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with TomLuTon (talk · contribs). I think the date the prefix was invented is irrelevant. As the article Ship prefix states, PS is indeed the official paddle steamer prefix. GreatLakesShips (talk) 08:38, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good suggestion. I take your word for its usage (I've encountered it before, too). 7&6=thirteen () 18:05, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
7&6=thirteen (): I'll move the article to PS Alpena then. If people have issues with it, I will move it back. GreatLakesShips (talk) 20:21, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

City of Alpena

[edit]

@Rmhermen: This book is saying she is named the City of Alpena? See: Floating Palaces of the Great Lakes: A History of Passenger Steamships on ...By Joel Stone, page 147 Any comment? I'm writing a draft on the newer City of Alpena now. There's a lot of confusion on these Alpena ships... --Broichmore (talk) 17:26, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This one is just Alpena. See [1], [2], [3], [4], . Also we list the ship as owned but not built by Ward. Rmhermen (talk) 04:28, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
