Schedule adaptation to Olympics
[edit]Judge Cuts had (has?) the following sentence: This year there were two Judge Cuts shows per week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, so the Judge Cuts ended in 2 weeks rather than 4 due to the Olympics. It is slightly ungrammatical, since there were two Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the day names should be in plural form. More troublesome is that the reasoning is backwards and incomplete. The intended meaning is that the planners did not want AGT to air at the same time as the Olympics. At least this fact should be explicit. Is there a reference for this statement? Preferably it should also be explicit why it would be bad to send them in the same weeks. Why should we expect this phase to take 4 weeks? This expectation is needed to explain the rather than 4 part. Since we cannot assume this expectation, we need to explain it. Alternatively we can remove the rather than 4 part. It is not esential information about the season. Actually it is not about this season at all. But then we need to remove also the reference to the Olympics. The Judge Cuts phase took only 2 weeks. We have already been given the explanation. It was because two episodes were sent each week (and there were 4 in total). So the due to the Olympics doesn't seem motivated. I forces the reader to back up on the conclusions from the preceding part of the sentence. Better to start at the beginning of the cause chain. In previous seasons, the Judge Cuts phase took 4 weeks. This year the producers did not want to air AGT during the Olympics period. The solution was to squeeze 4 episodes into 2 weeks, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and then not send any episodes for the following two weeks.--Ettrig (talk) 15:10, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
What Happened to the Judges' Names?
[edit]I just skimmed the entire page and all the judges' names (including the guest judges) were ALL CAPITALIZED AND LISTED BY THEIR CASUAL NAMES (just like what I just typed in). What happened? Edit if if you want, whoever is reading this. An Anonymous user50.88.180.63 (talk) 22:51, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
Nick Cannon's golden buzzer
[edit]Nick was not "given" the golden buzzer in this season, as stated in this and the main AGT article, or seemingly implied by his tweet even. He took it for himself, to the surprise and approval of the audience and the judges.
See the video of Dorothy Williams and her audition. To summarize the video: it was the very last audition of the season, the 90-year-old Dorothy astounded everyone with her burlesque act, the judges praised her, and as voting was about to happen, Nick joined Dorothy and told the audience a star was born, but unfortunately the judges only get one golden buzzer per season, but he, Nick, didn't care about the rules and was going to break them. He leapt off the stage and hit the golden buzzer. Simon was all smiles. 50.251.33.225 (talk) 17:04, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
Judge Cuts, weeks 1 to 4??
[edit]Towards the end of the 1st para of the chapter "Judge Cuts" it says: "This season, there were two Judge Cuts shows per week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Consequently, the Judge Cuts ended in two weeks rather than the four weeks ..."
How can the 4 chapters about the 4 shows aired then be called "week 1 through 4"?
In "week 1" there were two shows and in "week 2" there were 2 shows.
I understand that the 4 shows were called "Week 1 through 4" because in previous jears/seasons the shows were in 4 weeks, but not in 2016.
I suggest, that the four chapters are called "Show 1 to 4".
