It was split in 1992?? It was that recent? -Branddobbe 19:39, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not a chance. I am 25 and it has existed as long as I can remember. Perhaps they meant 1982 or 1972

Rey Mysterio

[edit]

I know he's in the references section, but to me, he seems to stick out like a sore thumb. I would say add a trivia section, but I'm sure there's a better way of seperating it, 'cause he doesn't belong there. Ideas? Lemon Demon (talk) 03:00, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong wrong wrong

[edit]

That's a different split date, the 1982 date is wrong. How do I know? Because I lived in Palm Springs and my phone number was (619) up until I was at least 7 or 8 years old and I was born in 1985. Obviously if it was changed before I was born I would not remember that being my phone number. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.120.102.23 (talk) 14:54, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Date shown as switch over date from 714 to 619.

[edit]

Date shown as switch over date from 714 to 619. Seems to me it was a lot earlier than then, it seems to me that the switch occurred sometime in the mid 70's not the early 80's. Makakoa85937 (talk) 18:54, 7 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

For everyone doubting the year 1982 for the creation of area code 619, the 1980 edition of Notes on the Network by AT&T does not list the area code yet. kbrose (talk) 20:46, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
