"heathen" and "ethnos"

[edit]

It's not sure that 'heathen' was borrowed into English from Armenian 'hetanos'. Since the notes aren't linked - and I'd be willing to bet the source is hard to find - it might be helpful to modify this or explain it. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 03:59, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This topic is very interesting but there's hardly any information on Wikipedia about it (there's also Religion_in_ancient_Armenia and Armenian_mythology which this page doesn't link to but should), and your only external link on this page to the official website (http://arordiukht.do.am/) doesn't have any information on it, just the option to sign in. Is there any other resource, external or official site you can add with more information? Thanks 108.54.107.200 (talk) 02:37, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Armenian Native FaithHetanism – In scholarly publications, as well as everyday speech, the religion is referred to as "Hetanism" / "Հեթանոսութիւն" and not "Armenian Native Faith" / "Հայ բնիկ կրօն" or even "Paganism" / "Կռապատութիւն"․ Therefore, it would be logical to change the name of the article to a more commonly used name Սամուէլ (talk) 11:33, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging @Richard-of-Earth, yes that's a very good idea. "Armenian Native Faith" is too broad and can be referred to all pre-Christian religions in the Armenian highlands, and Hetanism is specifically about the largely monotheistic religion of Armenians that developed in the 3rd-1st century BC. Armenian Mythology page could also have a See also: Hetanism text on the top. User:Սամուէլ (talk) 19:53, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
