This article is in good shape. I have a few comments:

  • to liberate the-Japanese held British Borneo
  • mopping up→mopping-up as a compound adjective
  • could you say which towns the existing railroad ran between?
  • link Indian Army during World War II for British Indian troops
  • Japanese troops landed on the island of Tarakan
  • carried out a drop on the Celebes
  • Dutch East Indies→NEI
  • "the Australian Government had been pressing MacArthur", was it the need for US naval and logistics support that was stopping Australia conducting these operations on its own or were there other factors at play?
    • The sources focus on MacArthur simply not including I Corps in his various offensives despite it forming part of his command (the underlying issue about Australia probably not being able to undertake independent operations of this scale isn't addressed, probably as it's a complex one given that by 1944 the Australian military had been configured to be dependent on US logistics and how it was used was governed by decisions on grand strategy made in Washington and London). I've tweaked the text accordingly. Nick-D (talk) 09:25, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • or Batavia (Jakarta)→or the capital of the NEI, Batavia (modern-day Jakarta)
  • the eastern Netherlands East Indies→the eastern NEI
  • and British North Borneo
  • to make follow-on landings in Java though by convincing
  • the main landings in British North Borneo, if that is right?
  • Allied forces were resisted
  • suggest introducing IJN when the Japanese navy is first introduced, and using IJN thereafter
  • is there some way you could explain that a Japanese army was really a corps? And in this case a very weak one?
    • I've added material on the size and condition of the 37th Army. Nick-D (talk) 10:05, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • Thanks, Nick, I only had access to the electronic copy of Rottman which didn't have page numbers, so I was a bit loathe to add it. Your addition solves that issue. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 21:32, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • comma after "Kimanis Bay, British North Borneo"
  • watch the north-west vs north west consistency, also other similar directions
    • I think that this has been sorted by AustralianRupert Nick-D (talk) 10:10, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • suggest "Patrols into the interior made by the 20th Brigade with the assistance of local Dayaks"
  • should it be "Operation Agas in British North Borneo" or is this meant as a generic region? North Borneo is used a fair bit, perhaps just clarify if this just means north Borneo, or the former British colony of British North Borneo
  • The Aguas party, also "Operation Aguas"
  • link Royal Australian Navy
  • Balikipapan
  • was not achieved fully→was not fully achieved
  • 6000 Japanese→ 6,000 Japanese
  • suggest "The historian Ooi Keat Gin states that"
  • "according to the historian Eustace Keogh" and "The historian Peter Dennis"
  • "main part of the Dutch East IndiesNEI"
  • I reckon you need to translate Senshi Sōsho, not just transliterate it
  • with Stanley and Hastings, maybe Port Melbourne, Victoria for consistency with the other chapter and generally
  • add author-link for David Horner

That's all I could find. Placing on hold for the above to be addressed. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 08:11, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Peacemaker67: G'day, PM, thanks for your time with this. I think Nick and I have addressed your comments above. Please let us know if anything has been missed, or still needs work. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 21:32, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
