Requested move 18 June 2018

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: move the page to Brian Smith (chemist), per the discussion below, with a new redirect from the proposed title. Dekimasuよ! 16:35, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Brian Smith (administrator)Brian Smith (physical chemist) – Procedural listing on behalf of an IP who erroneously tried to make this happen by listing it at CFD as a category renaming, even though no eponymous category exists here to move. Their only stated rationale was that "(administrator) is incorrect and (physical chemist) is correct" — that said, nothing in this article actually suggests that being a physical chemist has anything to do with why he has a Wikipedia article, since it stakes his notability on his roles in university administration rather than his work as a chemist. Since this was requested, however, I'm relisting it under the proper Wikipedia procedure — but I have no further opinion on the merits of the proposal beyond "the person who wanted this page moved followed the wrong process to get it considered". • Move to Brian Smith (chemist). For academics, we generally use their actual speciality as a disambiguator, even if they have gone on to become university heads. That's what made them eminent in the first place. And we generally just use "chemist" unless it needs further disambiguation. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:20, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
