Welcome

[edit]

I'm sure there are topics I haven't been able to cover when I wrote this initial draft of Brian Tyler's entry here on Wikipedia. I don't have his birthdate or birthplace, for one, and I haven't categorized this entry yet. Noelle De Guzman 04:42, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Notice

[edit]

I marked this article from cleanup because this article is full of unsourced claims ("He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, classical percussion, guitar, bass, bouzouki, mandolin, keyboards, and drums"), unverifiable opinions (i.e. "one of the top young composers in film today") and just seems NPOV all-around. I removed a completely redundant section but the article could really use a good scrutinizing. --Do Not Talk About Feitclub (contributions) 01:18, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I began writing this article, but I do hope the NPOV stuff didn't come from me. The quotes you refer to all come from one single edit by an IP address[1]. I don't see the cleanup tag on the article page itself though. 122.52.30.192 16:59, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, sorry, that was me forgetting to log in before writing my reply. --Noelle De Guzman (talk) 17:01, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added date of birth confirmed by http://www.amazon.com. Contrary to other sources it is 1978 not 1972. Harvard alumni wiki page also records this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.72.254.121 (talk) 07:10, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you're correct about the date of birth, according to every source I can find online. See Incorrect Year of Birth. Eritius (talk) 04:52, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Year of Birth

[edit]

I don't think the year of birth is accurate. I'm seeing many more references to 1972, not 1978:

  • AllMusic
  • FamousComposers.net
  • Get In Media This interview isn't dated but says it was conducted when The Expendables was released, which is August 2010 and claims he was 38 at the time. That would again put his year of birth as 1972.

Moreover, the references I see for 1978 tend to be other Wikis or sourcing Wikipedia directly.

@Noelledeg:I suggest we either change the date of birth to 1972 or remove it entirely to avoid confusion in the meantime. Being somewhat of a novice, I'm not sure if any of the above constitute valid citation sources but I definitely can't find a valid source for 1978. Eritius (talk) 04:52, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. Since the change to 1978 was made by an IP in 2012 who cited an Amazon page I can't find, I changed it back to 1972, citing famouscomposers.net. Station1 (talk) 20:17, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

1979?

[edit]

How could a man whose career started in 1997 have a cue used in Star Trek in 1979? I'm assuming that's a mistake, right? Any idea what it should be instead? Nerrolken (talk) 22:56, 20 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It was used in Star Trek: Enterprise circa 2001 and beyond. Viriditas (talk) 01:19, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Expendables 4??

[edit]

Why is there a link for a 4th Expendables film when there isn't even a mention of a 4th film neither on the Expendables film series article, or on the article for the 3rd film? Is this information coming from Brian Tyler's camp or something? Just curious. Aidensdaddy2k9 (talk) 20:18, 16 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All Hail The King (2013) - Marvel One-Shot and Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe (2014)

[edit]

Tyler scored the music in the One-Shot All Hail the King and the TV special Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe. They should be added to his filmography. 98.110.8.213 (talk) 02:50, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken it upon myself to add these two to his filmography. you're welcome. 98.110.8.213 (talk) 03:19, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Madsonik

[edit]

Thought it should be noticed Brian Tyler writes and composes music under the alias "Madsonik". :) 1.120.179.90 (talk) 18:53, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

– Primary topic. Here are the pageviews: 29656 composer, 1798 for the disambiguation page, 172 for the racing driver, and 156 for the actor who does not even have his own page. IMO, the fact that there are so many hits for the Disambiguation page proves that people are probably looking for this guy but hitting roadblocks. This move is definitely in favor of readers. https://tools.wmflabs.org/pageviews/#project=en.wikipedia.org&platform=all-access&agent=user&range=latest-90&pages=Brian_Tyler_(actor)%7CBrian_Tyler_(composer)%7CBrian_Tyler_(racing_driver)%7CBrian_Tyler Nohomersryan (talk) 14:05, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Signature

[edit]

I have removed the signature. Although Wikipedia:Signatures of living persons Is an essay, and therefore does not have the status of policy or even a guideline, it points out that we have not established a consensus to include signatures. Opinions vary with respect to people who are no longer living but in the case of living people, identity issues should carry a lot of weight and I concur with the advice in this essay that "signatures be removed upon the request of the subject".

While confidentiality rules prohibit revealing the contents of emails sent to Wikimedia fire OTRS without permission from person who sent it, OTRS has received a relevant request: ticket:2017122610005679

The signature should not be replaced without a thorough discussion here, or in a relevant noticeboard. If someone wishes to open a general discussion at some noticeboard, please provide a link to the discussion here.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:09, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
