Severing ties[edit]

Introduction needs to be rewriten[edit]

The introduction of this article needs to be revised. For example, the first sentence "foreign relations and diplomatic ties between Canada and Iran date back to 1955; before that, the Canadian Consular and Commercial Affairs in Iran was handled by the British Embassy" seems out of place because Canada and Iran no longer have foreign relations with each other - they are now severed. This article is a mess[edit]

I don't mean to be negative, but given the recent crash of Flight PS752 and the tragic loss of so many Canadians, someone (or group of volunteers) should edit this article from beginning-to-end with a heavy red pen. At the very least, someone should get the verb tenses correct. Then, ideally, it should be given a comprehensive historical context: How were Canadian and Iranian foreign policy decisions influenced by both the internal politics of the two countries, as well as by the larger geopolitics? Just saying. OldCommentator (talk) 03:37, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
