Order of candidates[edit]

Presumably, the order in which the candidates appear for each electorate should be in alphabetical order based on their surnames. In the process of more names being added to the tables, that should be tidied up. Schwede66 00:31, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Post-election use[edit]

I don't see this table as having any exportability when we come to write up election results after 19:00h on 26 November. To work around this having to reinvent the dataset I've modelled an alternative (and exportable) Candidates page in my Sandbox. Apologies for directing you away from this page, but as it is several Template-based Tables plus notes it is too much to post here. FanRed XN | talk 11:19, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That looks great! You are doing most useful work, Fanx - well done. Schwede66 00:41, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Withdrawn Candidates[edit]

Candidates that withdraw should still be listed - although they won't be candidates on polling day, they were still candidates at some stage and still deserve to be listed here. I've taken to separating them from the main electorate lists with a blank table row and noting their (ex-)candidacy status. See Liz Shaw, Auckland Central; Max Coyle, Hamilton West & John Boscawen, Tāmaki. FanRed XN | talk 15:25, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On the subject of John Boscawen — the NZ Herald article linked as a reference says that despite withdrawing from the list, he's still intending to stand in Tāmaki (albeit focusing on the list vote). If he's changed his mind about that, does someone have a reference they can add? -- Vardion (talk) 19:34, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't seen any news reports that he isn't, all of them have said he still intends to even though he isn't on list. Mathmo Talk 05:37, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Updating article post election[edit]

This page is a record of candidates' status as candidates before the election, and is not meant to record their votes or changes in incumbency or election to parliament via edits to their template types. Additional information regarding their electoral status should be confined to the |notes= variable, along the lines of "Elected to first term" or "Lost incumbency, elected as list MP" etc. FanRed XN | talk 07:05, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
