Different kinds of championships

[edit]

I clarified that there are 2 types of championships-- the annual national or world championships offered by various organizations, and the individual championships earned through a dog's lifetime. -one can infer from lots of sources that describe world/national or individual ch's that they are different things, but hard to find a reference that clarifies this distinction. I'll try to dig some more. An example: A dog named Fred competes for, say, 5 years, earning qualifying scores throughout the year at local competitions, and finally earns enough for the individual championship title (say, ADCH). The dog competes at a national competition one year and wins, so they are the national champion for that year. The dog will always be referred to as ADCH Fred. After winning the nationals, he can also be referred to as ADCH Fred, 2018 XXX National Champion; the the latter part is descriptive whereas the first part is a specific permanent title.

BTW, this distinction also applies to other dogs sports.

Emphasis on conformation championship

[edit]

Would like to see as much attention paid to championships in dog sports as are paid to the conformation championship, which is only one type that has ever been offered. Jes' sayin'. If anyone wants to take this on.
